The first sign of burnout isn’t fatigue. It’s accelerated aging in people who still outperform.

I’ve worked with executives in New York, LA and across Europe long enough to see the same pattern repeat: the highest-functioning people aren’t unbreakable. They’re just calibrated. They detect drift early - in mood, sleep, inflammation, cognitive sharpness - and course-correct before the cost shows up on the balance sheet.

Last week a 32-year-old founder told me his joint pain was “probably age”. It wasn’t. When someone in their early 30s is aging biologically like someone in their 50s, it’s never age. It’s accumulated load: stress, toxins, micronutrient deficits, circadian disruption. The silent wear that still passes as “normal” in most health checks.

What erodes people isn’t crisis. It’s the decade before crisis.

If HR wants to prevent burnout, absenteeism and churn, the window is not post-symptom. It’s pre-symptom. The phase where everything still looks fine on paper, but biology is already moving in the wrong direction.

If you want the biomarkers that predict burnout 6-18 months before it hits, reply with BURNOUT and I’ll email you the Stress Test guide.

Most “detox” advice backfires.

People end up starving the liver of what it actually needs to detox.

You don’t detox by restriction. You detox by supporting biochemistry. Let's say you're following a low-carb diet trend at the moment, here's what really happens: when carbohydrates stay too low, the liver switches to gluconeogenesis. It begins converting amino acids like glycine and glutamine into glucose - the same amino acids required for Phase II detoxification: glutathione conjugation, sulfation and glucuronidation.

We Need Doctors to Be Medical Experts—Not Hobbyist Nutritionists

There is a growing and deeply concerning trend: medical doctors stepping outside the field they were rigorously trained in—medicine—and entering domains like nutrition, often based on personal interest, frustration with the healthcare system, or anecdotal experiences.

Let’s be clear: nutrition is a scientific field in its own right.
And most MDs have received minimal or no formal training in it during medical school.

When MDs use their medical title to disseminate opinions or personal beliefs in nutrition, they unintentionally mislead the public—because their words carry weight, but not always accuracy.

This isn’t a call for rigidity. It’s a call for excellence.

We need medical doctors to raise the bar within their own field.

HbA1c isn’t just about diabetes

It’s one of the strongest predictors of how fast you’re aging. It reflects your 3‑month blood sugar average — and when it starts creeping up, you’re already losing years of focus, energy, and resilience.
The problem? Most doctors don’t flag it until it’s diabetic. By then, the damage is done.
High performers who ignore HbA1c are often aging 30% faster than they should - and they don’t even know it.

Why Detox Isn’t a Trend – It’s a Modern Necessity

In today’s world, detoxification isn’t about sipping celery juice or starving on lemon water for three days. It’s about helping your body actually process and eliminate the massive load of environmental toxins we’re exposed to daily.

From polluted air and pesticide-laced produce to heavy metals in seafood and endocrine disruptors in skincare – toxins are no longer the exception. They’re the baseline.

Carbs Aren’t the Enemy: Why Your Body (and Liver) Actually Needs Them

Somewhere along the way, carbs got labeled the bad guy. Blame it on the rise of keto, Atkins, or that one friend who swears off bread and calls it "toxins." But here’s the real deal: your body needs carbs. Not just for energy — for focus, for hormone balance, for recovery, and yep, for detoxing too.

In fact, your liver literally depends on carbs to help clear out waste and excess hormones through something called glucuronidation (don’t worry — we’ll get into it).

WATCH MY TALK: Functional medicine strategies to protect ourselves from EMFs

This summer I was in Germany to give a lecture on how best to protect yourself - from a functional medical point of view - against the harmful effects of EMF radiation from our smartphones, wifi, baby monitors etc.

At present, it is common knowledge that men's sperm quality i.a. is significantly affected because we carry our mobile phones. close to the body.

More and more research is coming out about far more disturbing consequences of radiation damage - and no matter how inconvenient we may think it is to deal with, it affects our own and our children's health regardless of us closing our eyes to inconvenient facts.

Watch my talk on the health issues surrounding #EMF exposure and how to protect ourselves via functional medicine strategies.

Supplement focus: how PQQ might help better your sleep!

PQQ is an antioxidant and based on recent research, it shows to be more powerful at fighting free radicals than vitamin C - this directly impacts and lowers inflammation and stress in our body.

A small, 8-week study in 17 people found that taking 20 mg of PQQ daily resulted in significant self-reported improvements in sleep quality and fatigue. This is thought to be mainly due to its effect on normalizing cortisol levels.

Lessons from 15 years in clinical practice: 4 Key Things That Cause Migraines

Headaches are almost as commonly accepted as the flu these days. And while there are many reasons why we suffer from headaches in our modern sedentary lifestyle, it is not something we should accept - it is a sign the something is off and painkillers alone is not going to bring our body back in balance even if they temporarily can help calm the pain.

Many of the same triggers that causes a simple headache are involved in the more severe migraine attacks. Migraines are not the same as regular headaches that most people experience occasionally. During a migraine attack, you may feel sharp, stabbing pain, typically on one side of the head. Migraines are much more intense than regular headaches and often come with other symptoms like visual disturbances, nausea and vomiting.

Headaches, especially migraines, can greatly affect your quality of life.

Prolonged migraines may result in a combination of chronic migraines and tension headaches.

While every body and biochemistry is unique, I have found some or all of factors to be the root causes of migraines in most cases:

To grain or not to grain?

That seems to be the main question on most people’s mind these days. Personally I always recommend taking advice on matters from professionals who are educated in the field you seek advice in, i.e. seek nutrition advice from professionals who are educated and hold a degree in nutrition science and seek medical advice and diagnostics from professionals who have a medical training. If we did that, and if we as professionals respected different educational backgrounds and trainings, instead of thinking “we know it all”, it would lead to a lot less confusion and malpractice in the health arena.

Anyway, today I want to share this video on the subject of grains with two very different takes on the matter - Dr. Perlmutter, a Medical Doctor and author of “Grain Brain” and Dr. John Douillard, DC, CAP a globally recognized leader in the fields of natural health, Ayurveda, and sports medicine. I find it incredibly nice that these two personalities in their own right are able to discuss their different takes on this almost religious matter in such a civil manner.

NEW TALK: 4 HEALTH HACKS FOR WINTER

I am doing a new talk this Winter for companies. Ask your workplace to book this 60 minute talk and walk away with a better understanding of how you can work with your body and the seasons to gain effortless health and truly thrive in the body you are in.

While there are no short-cuts or magic formulas when it comes to health, it is key that we understand both our own body’s biochemical blueprint through lab testing in addition to how the intelligence of nature impacts us. So that we understand when is the time to support detoxification in the body and when is the time to nourish for hormonal balance. If we fight nature, health becomes a constant battle.

Rather we want to understand how we as human beings are connected to the intelligence in nature and embrace the changing seasons to best support our gut and brain health and just overall wellbeing.

Best sleeping position to detox your brain

The majority of the clients I see, who suffer from headaches/ migraine attacks, describe that their pain tend to start at the left side of the brain. And there is a good reason for that: the lymphatic system of the brain, which is meant to clear waste away from the brain - so-called glymphatic transport system - is situated at the left side of the brain! Furthermore, sleeping on your left side has shown to increase circulation and is often recommended for those with heart disease or high blood pressure. This position allows for better oxygenation of the entire body.

Remember you are only as healthy as your symptoms and/or lab work!

  • You can be asymptomatic and have “hidden disease” bad biomarkers - why testing is imperative if we want to prevent disease.

  • You can have symptoms and your blood labs come back within range - why you want to work with a qualified health practitioner who understand different ways of testing and their relevance for your symptoms to get answers to your suffering. Remember: blood work is THE LAST place imbalances show up.

There is no such thing as a symptom “just being a symptom”.

A symptom is the body’s way of telling you something is wrong, why we should be on a investigative journey to find out why we are suffering with certains symptoms and what might be the cause of them.

When dealing with headaches and migraines, a key factor is to test for toxic waste that tends to accumulate over time in the brain.

Especially mycotoxins from mold exposure is known to be a major contributing factor. When our brain is full of toxic waste, the drainage pathways are often blocked and we become overly sensitive to “everyday” toxins like alcohol, histamines, sulfur etc.

Apart from treating the core reasons why we have pain in the brain, research suggests we will benefits from sleeping on our left side to help utilize gravity with clearing out toxic waste from our brain while we sleep:

“Gravity affects the movement of blood and CSF through the brain, and therefore sleep position will likely play a role in the clearance of waste products from the brain. Both intracranial pressure and cerebral hemodynamics are influenced by body posture, and patients with dementia were found to spend a much larger percentage of time in the supine position compared to controls, establishing an association between time in supine position and dementia. An important factor in this clearance pathway is the stretch of nerves and veins in each position. Glymphatic transport is most efficient in the right lateral sleeping position, with more CSF clearance occurring compared to supine and prone”

Magnesium is the no. 1 most commonly found deficiency today

It would be optimal if we could eat enough of all the vitamins and minerals, because food is more recognizable to the body and it is easier to absorb. The sources of magnesium in our food products include whole grains, nuts, sprouts, legumes, cocoa, meat and vegetables. However, what I see when I test, is that many lack it - in 9 out of 10 cases, we see a deficit of magnesium. Magnesium is, together with zinc and silica, among the minerals we commonly find is difficult to obtain an optimal level of through our food because the soil is so depleted and our demands for these minerals have increased due to various stressors in modern life.

Scientific American: "We have no reason to believe 5g is safe"

“Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines. Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life.”

NEW TALK (ZOOM WEBINAR DANISH ONLY) 7th of September: Health dangers of EMF and how to navigate

Did you know that the Health Authorities actually recommend reducing our use of mobile phones? Smartphones, wi-fi, etc. have become important components of daily life. Their harmful effects on the body, especially on the nervous system, have gradually become quite well studied. According to a lot of research, unnatural EMF can affect our body's nervous system and cause damage to cells. Cancer and unusual growths can be a symptom of very high EMF exposure. Several studies have reported that exposure to EMF results in oxidative stress in many tissues of the body. Exposure to EMF is known to increase concentrations of free radicals. This results in increased oxidative stress and chronic inflammation as the antioxidant defense system is unable to prevent the damaging effects of free radicals. The World Health Organization initially considered these sources of non-ionizing EMF radiation to be safe because they were only assessed based on their thermal effects - and that, quite correctly, is not harmful to health. However, it turns out that cell damage has not been taken into account in these conclusions. To participate go here: https://tidslerne.nemtilmeld.dk/296/ Please share

Study confirms: limit cell phone exposure during pregnancy

"Many studies have shown that electromagnetic fields can have destructive effects on sex hormones, gonadal function, fetal development, and pregnancy. So people must be aware of the negative effects of EMFs. Although the impact of the waves varied at different frequencies, it is better to stay as far away as possible from their origin because of the risks associated with exposures to these waves. In addition, people can use natural antioxidants to help reduce the effects of these waves."

A review on Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and the reproductive system: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5014506/

In short: stop carrying your phone on your body especially during pregnancy or when wanting to become pregnant as it may affect both your own fertility as well as your offspring’s development (autism is a big worry right now that seems to be linked to excessive EMF exposure).

Keep your phone 3 meters away from your body to limit EMF exposure when not using it, and stop scrolling on it like it is your best friend, cos it is not. We are all wasting our lives scrolling non-stop on these smart phones and all these smart devices are under suspicion for wrecking our health big time.
