Studies confirm: cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy can increase lymphocytes with essential oils

Can essential oils really boost the immune system (lymphocytes) in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy?One of the biggest challenges when you are in chemotherapy is to keep your lymphocytes up, so you can continue in treatment. Studies suggest that something as simple as essential oils can help with just that. 66 patients in the early stages of colorectal cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy were enrolled in a randomized controlled trial. The aromatherapy massage for the intervention group consisted of 3x 45 min massage sessions over a week with ginger essential oil in coconut oil, while the control group only received standard supportive care. At the end of the week, the mean number of lymphocytes was significantly higher in the massage group and reported symptoms of fatigue, pain, and stress were significantly lower than in the control group.Statistically significant increases in the number of peripheral blood leukocytes and lymphocytes were also reported by another trial involving 12 breast cancer patients who received a 30-minute aromatherapy massage twice a week for four weeks with essential oils of sweet orange (Citrus aurantium), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) ) and sandalwood (Santalum album) in jojoba oil.

Blood anemia due to parasites not iron deficiency

Did you know anaemia may be caused by parasite infections? Typically, when you're diagnosed anemia, you're told you need iron. However, that is far from true. Anaemia can be due to several other things than iron deficiency - and many will also discover by further testing that their iron is actually quite normal, despite the fact that they have been diagnosed with anaemia. Iron is one of the minerals you certainly don't just want to take “just in case” - there are as many negative aspects of too much iron as too low. New figures from the CDC reflect that over 50 % of us carry parasite infections. Can you test for that? Not currently no - the available laboratory testing for parasites are useless as they are extremely inaccurate, so don’t waste your money or time on that. If you have traveled in India, Asia, Africa or regularly eat sushi, like your steaks rare, have pets - and if you have never taken been on a parasite cleanse, you can count on that yes, you have parasites. And if you have any of the symptoms (skin rash, constipation, anaemia, various digestive disorders) that can typically be linked to these unesthetic crawlers, then it's very simply a matter of just start treating them - because the question is generally not whether we have them, but to how much we are burdened by them. Why athletes thrive on a plant-based diet (and why you likely won't long-term!)

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding going all-in vegan aka plant-based. A popular Netflix doc was made showing how athletes reported greater endurance, performance and so forth when switching over to a plant-based diet.

And this totally makes sense.

However, this led non-athletes to believe that they should copy the eating pattern of athletes, because “obviously“ this was showing to be the ideal way to eat.

Now this totally does not make sense.

Athletes typically have an energy demand of around 8000-10000 calories daily and require 1-1.5g of protein pr. kg. bodyweight. An average Joe might have an energy demand of around 2000-3000 calories daily and still require 1-1.5g of protein for optimal appetite control, bone health and muscle growth.

The athlete is thus needing to eat 3-5 x as many calories to meet their energy demand, yet their protein demand is about the same as your average Joe. This means the athlete is going to benefit from eating more plant-based food because they can easily reach their protein requirements from plants alone due to the high volume they are taking in daily.

Now if you downsize that food to about a quarter which meets the energy demand for the average Joe, you’re going to have great difficulty meeting your protein needs. And this will affect your overall health negatively: often weightloss resistance, cravings, muscle-loss, bone-loss and sagging skin even.

Why you do NOT want to consume "light" or "sugarfree"

I’ve never been a fan of light products. It’s just counterintuitive to common sense: the body counts calories partly based on taste in combo with calorie density, and if we mess with food, that will very likely have an impact on our appetite-satiety switch, which is the worst thing ever to mess with, if we wish to have a healthy relationship with food, body and weight. It is true: we don’t have science to support that drinking artificial sweetened products can be tied to serious diseases. However, I think that is pretty much besides the point. Just because you don’t get cancer from one single life-style factor, it doesn’t make it harmless.

Natural vitamins superior to synthetic ones.

Science cannot create life. Only life can create life. Obviously, there is a difference. Supplements food-based, isolated or synthetic, has detracted from the most important part of health and healing. Study: 6 months with glucosamine and chondroitin was NO BETTER THAN A PLACEBO

Glucosamine and chondroitin are one of the supplements that always seem to be recommended for joint issues and should work in theory. But theory is not always what happens in real life. I have not seen real results with this in clinic and have been hesitant to recommend it, as research is sketchy and positive feedback as well. In a study in The New England Journal of Medicine, researchers found that a full 6 months of supplementation with glucosamine and chondroitin was NO BETTER THAN A PLACEBO.

This is crazy: How source of funding affects results (on dangers of wifi and cell phone use)

“Several meta-analyses dating from about 2000 all report significant associations between exposure and risk of leukemia. By examining subsequent reports on childhood leukemia it is clear that almost all government or independent studies find either a statistically significant association between magnetic field exposure and childhood leukemia, or an elevated risk of at least OR = 1.5, while almost all industry supported studies fail to find any significant or even suggestive association. A secondary goal of this report is to examine the level of evidence for exposure and elevated risk of various adult cancers. Based on pooled or meta-analyses as well as subsequent peer-reviewed studies there is strong evidence that excessive exposure to magnetic fields increases risk of adult leukemia, male and female breast cancer and brain cancer. There is less convincing but suggestive evidence for elevations in several other cancer types. There is less clear evidence for bias based on source of funding in the adult cancer studies. There is also some evidence that both paternal and maternal prenatal exposure to magnetic fields results in an increased risk of leukemia and brain cancer in offspring. When one allows for bias reflected in source of funding, the evidence that magnetic fields increase risk of cancer is neither inconsistent nor inconclusive. Furthermore adults are also at risk, not just children, and there is strong evidence for cancers in addition to leukemia, particularly brain and breast cancer.”

I recommend everyone get an EMFields Acoustimeter AM11 (retails for approx. 500USD/ 2800 Danish Kroner), which is an easy tool to measure your home environment safety and do something about it. Without testing your environment and understanding where it is coming from (your own devices, cell phone towers, your neighbour’s wifi router placed against your bedroom etc.), it gets very abstract to talk about whether EMF is an issue for your and your family - test don’t guess. Study: "Melatonin May Increase Anticancer Potential of Pleiotropic Drugs"

“Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is not only a pineal hormone, but also an ubiquitary molecule present in plants and part of our diet. Numerous preclinical and some clinical reports pointed to its multiple beneficial effects including oncostatic properties, and as such, it has become one of the most aspiring goals in cancer prevention/therapy. A link between cancer and inflammation and/or metabolic disorders has been well established and the therapy of these conditions with so-called pleiotropic drugs, which include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, statins and peroral antidiabetics, modulates a cancer risk too. Adjuvant therapy with melatonin may improve the oncostatic potential of these drugs. How to treat swimmer's ear naturally

Swimmer’s ear is something many of us get to deal with at some point in our life, if we love swimming. It is caused by either Staphylococcus aureus or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Both bacteria thrive in moist environments, why it is critical to keep those ears dry after showering or going swimming. The common treatment route will be antibiotics, but if this becomes an often scenario, we might want to check out some natural remedies, as no one wants to take antibiotics too frequently.
